ROB ZOMBIE Taps MARILYN MANSON Drummer For Upcoming U.S. Shows
February 7, 2011Due to the fact that Joey Jordison is in Europe performing with MURDERDOLLS, Rob Zombie utilized the services of MARILYN MANSON drummer Ginger Fish (real name: Kenneth Robert Wilson) for last night's (Sunday, February 6) performance at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, California.
Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be viewed below.
Ginger Fish is expected to sit behind the kit for all of ROB ZOMBIE's U.S. dates in February before Jordison rejoins the group in time for ZOMBIE's U.K. headlining dates at the end of the month.
Zombie told The Pulse of Radio last year that his current band, which also features guitarist John 5 and bassist Piggy D., is the best he's ever had. "Yeah, this is the best it's ever been," he said. "I mean, it always gets better and better, but I really can't imagine it ever getting better than this because everybody in the band is such a perfect fit for what we need to do and, you know, there's been times where there's nice people in the band or good players, but they just sort of weren't the right person but they could fake it onstage. But this is the first time we've really had four people that are all like-minded. I don't know, it's just perfect. I mean, we would all be friends if we weren't in the band. We're all that same type of personality, it's great."
Rob Zombie's fourth solo album, "Hellbilly Deluxe 2", debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard album chart on February 10, selling 49,000 copies in its first week of release. That total is less than 50 percent of the number of copies that his previous effort, "Educated Horses", sold in its first week back in April 2006, when it moved 107,000 copies to land at No. 5 on the chart.
The CD/DVD edition of "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" arrived in stores on September 28, 2010 via Roadrunner Records. The expanded version of the album features three brand new tracks recorded with the band's current touring lineup, including SLIPKNOT drummer/MURDERDOLLS guitarist Joey Jordison, along with a reworked version of the song "The Man Who Laughs". A bonus DVD featuring live footage and a 30-minute touring documentary, dubbed "Transylvanian Transmissions", is also included.
